found my passport today, took pics of all the pages with its various visas and entry/departure stamps because i’ll be exchanging it soon for a new one. so here are a couple of pics from that.
the top photo was found inside my passport too. the short story, a long time ago in korea i randomly met this sk soldier in-between the cars on the train (mugunghwa) going from seoul to daegu. we just started to talk, and then drank and just had a good old time. at the near end of our trip, he showed me this photo and told me a little story about it the when and the where and the how etc. and afterwards insisted that i take his photo. he wanted me to have it. i’m not sure why but i finally said ok thank you, and took it. and now after all these years, and i’m not quite sure why but i am now posting it up here.

and the other thing i want to get started on… is studying the sense of smell, especially how it’s “used’ in arts. often times i could go thru a whole book, a novel and not smell anything really… either it’s not there or i just pass over it. i’ve seen some films where only the more gross smelling smells get attention. for example i think it was in the silence of the lambs where the fbi agents enter a morgue and the camera focuses in on their faces to show their reaction to the smell. a great bit of acting. there’s this film called perfume: the story of murder. i’ve actually had it for awhile, sitting in the q… and it’s sitting there because the film is actually based on a novel and i usually don’t watch films based on novels unless i read the novel first.

a group photo, finally! it was quite difficult to get everyone here for a group photo but i finally managed to do it. check out the newest member, the tiny blue electric guitar. found it at the storage fac. fixed it up a little, replaced a string. plugged it into the amp and it’s alright, playable. this one will be fun to travel with…

a stack of books in the q. a barcode scanner.
in the midst of cataloging this family’s entire library, a sort of project. i can’t say for sure how many books are here but i think this place has more books than the local public library. and cataloging is going extremely slow because what happens is… i’ll be scanning or data entering then come across an interesting book and of course i’ll stop and start reading it and then all of a sudden it’s like woah where did the day go? hmm, i don’t think i’ll ever be able to work at a library or a book store, probably get fired real quick for not doing work. but i’m still interested in and may plan to take some courses on library sciences over at the local community college…

i don’t know when my dad’s birth day/date is… my dad doesn’t know either. we celebrate on different days every year because it changes every year and we have to look it up. does that make sense? that’s how my family does it. and the birth date on his gov’t issued id? that’s not his real birth date.
